Huge Increase In The Volume Of E-Commerce In Turkey
Remarkable numbers!
Minister Pekcan referred to the arrival of the total value of electronic commerce in Turkey: 226.2 billion TL ($27.9 billion); which indicates a significant rise in Turkish e-commerce last year.
Pekcan explained that the number of companies involved in Turkish e-commerce increased from 68,457 companies in 2019 to 256,861 companies in 2020.
Increasing demands on e-commerce:
The Turkish Minister of Trade added: “The volume of e-commerce compared to general trade has increased from 9.8% in 2019 to 15.7% in 2020”.
She noted that: “In 2020, e-commerce orders increased by 68% from 2019 to 2 billion and 297 million”.
She added: “91.4% of the volume of e-commerce last year was in domestic spending”. While 4.2% of online shopping was from other countries’ shopping sites, 4.4% was from Turkish purchases abroad”.
